Patang Scholars Program began last year with 21 students onboard. We conducted 15 sessions with 30 hours of holistic development training for our students. These sessions, organized by the First Step team, were interactive and activity-based. The Program has helped the students identify their improvement areas and helped them to grow better with time.
At our last session, the students made wonderful presentations and thanked the teachers for their support. After their 11th annual examinations, 7 students were selected for internships with different non-profit organizations. There were also summer workshops and during one of these, we took the students to the Nehru Planetarium for edutainment. It was a great learning experience to visit the museum and watch the “Our Solar System” movie in the dome theatre.
As we enter the new academic year, we are delighted to onboard the next batch of students in the Patang Scholars Program: the Class of 2021! For this academic year, we have shortlisted 40 students out of 165 applications that we received from all over Mumbai. Students were selected based on their marks, aptitude scores and interview performance. KSHRujan, a non-profit firm based out of Mumbai, will be conducting life-skills training for this group while Look Within, a counselling and training centre, will be holding the second year of workshops for the Class of 2020.
The orientation of the new students and their parents was held this month, and marked the beginning of the new academic year for the Class of 2021. The parents expressed their hopes and expectations from the program and the students participated in a treasure hunt to get to know each other better.
We are excited to begin our next journey with all the Patang Scholars. We wish them a successful year ahead with a lot of learning and fun activities and hope it brings more remarkable changes in their lives!
